When is a castle not a castle?

When it’s an Abbey…and there’s nothing wrong with an Abbey either.

Rolduc Abbey was first built in 12th century and has been many things since then including being empty for 35 years before being recommissioned in 1831 as a seminary. It’s a huge complex and now mostly serves as a conference centre/hotel as well as a seminary, private rented apartments, among other things. It’s a beautiful site to walk around. Very peaceful and the huge church is absolutely stunning.

Our room is modern with massive rustic beams that formed the original structure.

I’m still getting to grips with the blog page. I did put 2 photos in and add more words but when I published none of that went thru. I’m wondering if I didn’t update before publishing. Will do another one instead of adding to the old.
